Great Black Speakers Bureau Launches New Line of African American History Month Speakers

Ithaca, NY (PRWEB) November 13, 2008 -- Organizations looking to hire African American speakers (http://www.greatblackspeakers.com) for Black History Month will now have a company to help guide them in their search. Great Black Speakers Bureau recently launched their 2009 line of Black History Month speakers (http://www.greatblackspeakers.com/blackhistorymonth.htm).

"Corporations and universities often struggle to find high quality speakers for Black History Month events. We just want to make their search easier." says Lawrence Watkins (http://www.greatblackspeakers.com/speakerprofiles/lawrencewatkins.htm), 25-year old Founder of Great Black Speakers and Cornell University MBA student.

The Black History Month line features over 50 of the bureau's top speakers. "We have a powerful roster of speakers who aim to inspire, educate, and motivate all audiences." says Watkins. Highlighted speakers include Donna Brazile (CNN), Jeff Johnson (BET Networks), Farai Chideya (NPR), and Dr. Boyce Watkins (http://www.boycewatkins.com), Syracuse University professor and Founder of YourBlackWorld.com. There is also a diverse set of topics covered by the speakers. "Our speakers share their knowledge on everything from how blacks are portrayed in the media to gang violence in our inner cities. We also have experts on business development within African American communities." says Watkins.

Great Black Speakers has placed an emphasis this year on its political speakers. With the election of Barack Obama as President of the United States, organizations have been clamoring to book speakers who can intelligently speak on how this election will change the political landscape in America. "The United States now has its first black president and organizations have been responsive to our roster by booking them as speakers." says Watkins

Great Black Speakers is one of the few speakers' bureaus that focuses specifically on African-American speakers. They developed a high level of knowledge and expertise playing matchmaker between organizations and speakers. "Great Black Speakers is more than a company," says Diana Atkinson, Executive Director of Great Black Speakers, "we are a movement to spread African-American thought to the masses. It is important to remember that black history is also American history."

Watkins' speakers are looking forward to new speaking opportunities, " I am looking forward to Black History Month because Barack Obama has opened the door, and now I look forward to helping young people take over the house." says Al Duncan, youth motivational speaker and author of Young, Black, and Paid: Success Secrets of Young Black Entrepreneurs. Roxanne Jones, Vice President of ESPN the Magazine and author of Say It Loud, an Illustrated History of the Black Athlete, states "I could not be more honored or humbled I am to be listed as a Black History Month Speaker for GBS, with the likes of Donna Brazile and Dr. Julianne Malveaux. It is such an exciting time for the nation and I look forward to sharing our stories with the world."
